Color Pages

Color pages are outline drawing pictures of different kinds of imagery. For instance if I wanted a color page of say an oak tree, the drawing would have no color but instead it would be a dark black outline. Usually the outer edges are done with a thicker line weight than the inner lines.

If you do a search on color pages in one of the search engines like google you will see a staggering anount of results. Many of the sites offer free coloring pages but if you click on the imagery alot of them have been done on the computer. You can tell because the line work is so straight or round, doesn't look like freehand work at all, it looks very stiff and boring. I personally do not like artwork that well done especially if my little one is going to color it in. A piece of artwork for a child does not need to be all serious looking it needs to reflect ones personality, and children are usually easy going, happy go lucky. But aside from that there are some very good free coloring page sites offering freehand color pages so no worries.

If you do print any color pages off the net I always right click and save as that way I know for sure the image has saved to my computer. I find some of the sites that have a download button take you to another page and it slows your computer down. This is not necessary when you can just right click and save as. Its quick, simple and uses little bandwidth that way.

Coloring pages can be a great tool for a childs development growth. They can be educational and they help stimulate the childs brain because their thinking about what colors to use e.t.c. Kids have so much fun coloring them too. All kids need some kind of activity that requires them using their brain.
